　　饺子 jiaozi (Chinese dumplings)

　　维基百科这样解释 dumpling ，dumpling 是由一团面团组成的，里面可能有馅也可能没馅，面团由面粉、面包或土豆做成。里面的馅包括肉馅、鱼肉馅、芝士馅、蔬菜馅、水果馅等等，烹调方式可以煎、烤、炸、煮、蒸各种方式。

　　所以你点一盘 dumplings ，上来的可以是水饺、也可以是包子、还可能是馒头……

　　饺子的正确英文是 Chinese dumplings 。随着中国国际地位的提高，饺子的英文 jiaozi 也进入了牛津字典。所以你在国外的时候，直接说我要一盘 jiaozi ,外国人就能听懂你要什么了。

　　瓜类的厚皮或脱水的皮用 rind 来表示。各种香瓜甜瓜都是 rind ，陈皮叫 orange rind ；奶酪、熏肉的外皮也能用rind表示。
